Can I bring my family and kids?
Yes, please do!! This is absolutely a family-friendly conference. Each conference day we will have science themed activities for your kids to enjoy and your family is welcome to join us on the fun-filled banquet night!

What are the conference dates?
The conference talks will start on Tuesday 02/20 and carry out until early afternoon on Friday 02/23.  In addition, we will hold a welcome reception on Monday 02/19 during which participants will be able to pick up their badge and t-shirt, and meet other participants around a beverage. Registration will also be available Tuesday morning before the talks begin. 

What does a typical conference day look like?
Most conference days have a morning session, lunch break, and an afternoon session. Each session will have a variety of great speakers with a couple coffee breaks in between. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we will also have short breakout talks in the morning. After the conference day is over many attendees will spend time exploring the island. 

When do I register/submit my abstract?
Early bird registration deadline is December 26th, 2023. Abstract submissions in order to be selected for a talk are due November 25th, 2023. 

Where do I stay?
Most guests choose to stay at the conference venue, this year the Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina in Hawaii. Our discounted block of rooms has now been sold out, but we have opened a Discussion on Whova to facilitate room sharing or name-changes on rooms in the case of cancellation. While we recommend staying at the conference venue, you do not have to in order to partake in the conference.

I registered for the conference, but now I can’t come. Can I cancel my registration?
We allow cancellations up to Jan 1, but cancellation may incur a fee up to 20% of your registration costs. To cancel your registration, please email us at with your name, registration confirmation number, and reasons for cancellation if relevant.

What are the Poster Size Requirements?
Standard sizes are usually 36″ x 48″ and 42″ x 56″ (most of the ones at wqbio are usually the former).

Should you allocate time for questions in your scheduled presentation slot? 
Yes! 

Are there formal biosketch and presentation summary requirements? 
Nope – Both of these documents are utilized for chairing organizer introductions. But, the clearer the information provided is the better your talk introduction will be. 

What is the deadline for the biosketch? 
Please send by at least two weeks before the event.
